Custom Design of a Humidifier System for a Greenhouse

Smart Fog® was asked to provide a series of MS100 humidification systems to a greenhouse that needed to eliminate the high mineral content in its water supply. Moreover, these humidification systems needed to provide evaporative cooling and spraying that would reduce the greenhouse’s temperature by up to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. After a brief consultation, we set about getting our system up and running.

Our MS100 system can work in temperature ranges of 50 degrees Fahrenheit or more, with each MS100 nozzle producing up to 1.5 gallons/hr of water. Since the greenhouse measured 6,912 square feet with a required relative humidity level of 60 percent, it came down to a simple matter of math: 20 MS100 units would be required for proper environmental control.

We built each humidification system by assembling the customary components: a CPLC2N controller, an ES100PB1, an S1 relative humidity and temperature sensor, an INJ-1 injection system, a Zero TDS 1000 water filter system, and a pipe and fittings kit. Since the INJ-1 injection system never requires priming, we could apply the concentration ratio digitally into the controller. Additionally, our ES100PB1 includes a 2400 L/min air filter set, a 130 mesh screen water filter, and an air control electric valve.

Based on our customer’s request, we integrated our humidification system into their existing greenhouse monitoring equipment. Now with our MS100 units automatically monitoring the relative humidity level in the greenhouse, the high mineral content in the water quickly vanished, fulfilling all our client’s specifications.
