Cost-Effective Humidification Solutions for Healthcare Facilities

The benefits of self-evaporative humidification for patient and staff well-being have been widely reported among our customer base. But what does our humidification technology look like for hospital decision-makers?

From mobile to in-duct and direct space humidifiers, we’ve distilled the benefits of our self-evaporating humidity down to two key cost advantages: the ability to reduce unexpected maintenance events and unexpected costs. When humidity is managed effectively, from waiting and surgery rooms to X-ray and intensive care facilities, decision-makers have more control over their entire facility.

More Cleanliness and Less Equipment Failure

Where there’s water, there’s life—and that’s not always a good thing. Excess moisture from humidification systems encourages mold and bacterial growth. When the water that goes through the air is no longer clean, hospitals and clinics face a problem: infection rates and time spent disinfecting surfaces soar. In some instances, the mold can be so severe that facilities have to outfit their buildings with more fans or, in the worst scenarios, entirely new humidification systems.

One such client turned to Smart Fog after installing hundreds of ultrasonic units that, even with UV lights, could not prevent mold growth. They were advised to install fans throughout their mega-facility to keep surfaces dry, but instead, opted for self-evaporating humidification that was already anti-mold and anti-bacterial.

Smart Fog’s self-evaporative humidification is based on proprietary de-correlation technology that reverses water-to-water molecular attractions. Due to reversed molecular attractions, droplets self-repel quickly across a room and evaporate before sticking to surfaces. This prevents condensation and any excess moisture from forming, preventing mold and bacteria from growing entirely.

More Control of Ideal Conditions for Less Cost

By sustaining the regulation-mandated humidification levels across the facility and by eliminating excess moisture, equipment damage is mitigated. Corrosion is prevented because all moisture self-evaporates, and damage caused by electrostatic discharge and dust is averted by humidity that fully permeates.

Self-evaporative humidification is a two-in-one solution for contamination and equipment damage, begging the question: How much will maintaining such environments cost? The phenomenon of de-correlation again holds the answer: for all self-evaporative humidification systems, facilities save up to 90% in energy, as well as in unquantifiable time costs. Because all our systems use a natural de-correlation process to work with nature, not against it, each system consumes very little energy. Lower, in fact, than most other adiabatic systems—which are the most energy-efficient systems on the market.

More Control of Ideal Conditions for Less Time

Self-evaporative humidification even saves hospitals and clinics the energy costs often left uncounted: employees’ time. Though adiabatic systems are energy-efficient, many fail to provide adequate humidity that satisfies the needs of hospitals and clinics.

One of our customers came to Smart Fog after buying an adiabatic system that could not generate proper humidity. The solution their former manufacturer gave them? Add more fans. To us, adding more parts and components fails to prioritize customer time.

That’s why Smart Fog builds each self-evaporative system with no moving parts and no breakable materials. Here in the USA, all Smart Fog systems are built to last. Historically, our humidifiers have run nonstop for decades without needing interference. The only maintenance required is a simple air and water filter replacement, which is a huge time benefit for understaffed hospitals and clinics. Smart Fog provides precise, hands-off control that keeps dynamic and demanding facilities satisfied for decades.

Key Takeaways

Should your healthcare humidification needs change, we designed our humidification systems to change with you. From in-duct systems, direct space humidifiers, and mobile designs, each system is engineered to meet your particular needs, and each system boasts modular scalability. Whether a facility needs disinfection, evaporative cooling, ESD prevention, or reliable humidification, self-evaporative humidification does it all and does it right. Time and energy no longer need to be stretched across different manufacturers to solve different problems. Smart Fog’s self-evaporative humidification systems provide complete solutions for healthcare humidity needs.
